The evaluation committee under scheme BG161PO001/3.1-03/2010 Support for the development of natural, cultural and historical attractions implemented under Operational Programme Regional Development (OPRD) finished its proceedings and 161 municipalities with a population size of more than 10 000 people were approved for financing. The candidates were approved to participate in two distinct components of the scheme. All municipalities throughout the Republic of Bulgaria are eligible to apply for activities related to immovable cultural values of national and world importance as per the Register of the National Institute for Immovable Cultural Heritage.

Scheme BG161PO001/3.1-03/2010 Support for the development of natural, cultural and historical attractions was published in August 2010. Within the period set, by 4.00 p.m. on 15 March 2011, 56 project proposals were submitted.

The projects target the development of competitive tourist attractions which contribute to the diversification of the tourist product, reduction of territorial concentration and more equal distribution of the benefits from tourism.

The total approved grant amount under OPRD is 162 195 121.85 BGN.
