INVITATION
for a Midterm Framework Investment Programme and Project Fiches under a direct grant procedure
The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works opens a direct grant procedure under Operational Programme Regional Development 2007-2013 and invites the Ministry of Culture as a specific beneficiary to submit a Midterm Framework Investment Programme and project fiches under Priority Axis 3 “Sustainable Tourism Development”, Operation 3.1. “Improvement of tourist attractions and the related infrastructure”, scheme BG161PO001/3.1-01/2008 “Support for monuments of culture of national and world significance contributing to sustainable tourism development”.
The grant scheme aims at supporting the development of monuments of culture of national and world significance under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture which contribute to the development of sustainable cultural tourism, the diversification of tourist services supplied and the increase of the benefits from tourism.
The scheme is implemented with the financial support of the European Union via the European Regional Development Fund.
Eligible activities:
- Development of monuments of culture of national and world significance – renovation, conservation, protection, restoration, exhibition, equipment, introducing new techniques and programmes for interpretation and animation, etc.
- Improvement of the relevant tourist infrastructure required for the purposes of tourist attractions such as signs, tourist information points, playgrounds for children and leisure facilities, not revenue generating, parking lots, pavements, green areas, public lavatories, lighting, small waste collection facilities, facilities improving the access of the disabled and facilitating the access of elderly people;
- Development of complementary small-scale technical infrastructure in the area of attractions such as access roads, utility services and amenities for the visitors providing for the integrated development of tourist products;
- Complementary small-scale non-infrastructural activities directly bearing on the supported immovable cultural heritage (organization of events, marketing and advertising, promotion and publicity activities);
- Training of the staff employed to operate the facilities at the site of the monument of culture.

The Guidelines for Applicants under scheme BG161PO001/3.1-01/2008 “Support for monuments of culture of national and world importance contributing to sustainable tourism development” have been amended!
The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works announces to the specific beneficiaries of the scheme BG161PO001/3.1-01/2008 “Support for monuments of culture of national and world significance contributing to sustainable tourism development”, i.e. the Ministry of Culture, that pursuant to Order No РД-02-14-1959/ 12.11.2010 of the Head of the Managing Authority of Operational Programme Regional Development 2007-2013, the Guidelines for Applicants and Annex K under this scheme have been amended as follows:
• The total amount disbursed under the scheme has been increased by 16 000 000 BGN (8 180 670,10 EUR). The total amount under the scheme stands at 38 394 085 BGN (19 630 584,10 EUR).
The maximum grant amount has been increased from 5 000 000 BGN to 16 000 000 BGN.
• The territorial scope of the scheme has been extended.
